Handmade Dresses Giveaway!

Click on the image to view the full size. You guys must have at least one little girl in your life that wears (or will wear) a size 4T-5T! So as many of you know, I used to run a small handmade dress shop on Etsy (under GrowingUpwCharissa and minimooh). Charissa has long outgrown her love of wearing dresses, and I am finally ready to part with the remaining "originals". Instead of allowing them to occupy precious closet space in hopes that Charissa will relinquish her obsession with Hello Kitty shirts that are always 2 sizes too small, I'm going to give them away. To enter, you (or your minions) must submit a piece of 6x6 artwork to Rochester Contemporary Art Center (visit http://www.roco6x6.org/ for submission guidelines and form.) It is a unique (and free! minus shipping costs) opportunity to create something and have it displayed and up-for-sale at a real art gallery! So to enter: 1. Create a piece of 6x6 art. 2. Pack it up for shipping and then take a picture of the package. 3. Post your picture on my timeline, private message me the picture, or email me the picture. 4. Gain additional entries/chances by sharing this giveaway on FB and leave a comment here or on my FB page (http://www.facebook.com/mhjenniferho)letting me know that you did so. Deadline is April 20th. The dresses pictured in the photo are the ones you will receive if you should win. I will order all the entries via time stamp and use a random number generator to select. Okay. That's it. :)

Not quite...

...old enough for a "nice" group shot:

But perfectly fitting in regards to a real-life portrait :) (Pictured here with their god siblings Cipro Price, ). Order Cipro from mexican pharmacy,

When Charissa was two, I bought a half-gallon of perler beads with this crazy notion that it would be a good "bonding" craft to do with her, Cipro for sale. Cheap Cipro no rx, Yeah. It is a good bonding craft, Cipro long term, Cipro no rx, just not at two when their chubby fingers are more likely to grab a handful to stick in their mouth. (It's colorful, purchase Cipro online no prescription. Like candeee!)

Anyway, I had to wait two more years before finally living this mother-daughter fantasy of mine, Cipro Price. Cipro cost,

We started off just filling in the different shapes with random colors:

(Fingers are still chubby :) )Then decided to attempt a more thematic approach, namely, Cipro mg, Is Cipro safe, anything that was round:

She did some, I did some, Cipro dosage. Cipro interactions, It took us 2 weeks to complete. (And in that two weeks, where can i cheapest Cipro online, Japan, craiglist, ebay, overseas, paypal, I sorted the entire half gallon of beads. I counted 30 different colors.., about Cipro. Cipro brand name, Hmmm... I think I'm beginning to exhibit some OCD traits...) Anyway, here are the "round" things we came up:

We hot-glued them onto a piece of board (the back of a broken picture frame), and voila. Perler bead art. To commemorate quality time spent with one another :).

Purchase Tramadol, Unfortunately, my own version of a sticker wall in my personal home and sticker artwork that I did with Charissa as a fun activity are being regarded as copyright infringement. Tramadol price, coupon, Not sure how since the pattern and sticker choices were of my own creation. Only the idea of sticking stickers on the wall came from here, order Tramadol from mexican pharmacy. Buy generic Tramadol, Wonder what this means for the millions of other bloggers or Etsy crafters who get inspired by other artists... And I'm not even selling my services to recreate or install anything of the like, Tramadol overnight.

Zoloft Dosage, Try it. Tuesdays - "The Notebook" (Doodle Pillow)

My kids have been really into drawing these days. Buy generic Zoloft, So much so that they've set up their own little art gallery:

Their most frequent visitor:

The first thing they said to me after opening their gallery (which, of all 12 rooms of the house, they chose the living/formal/piano room) was: "Don't take them down okay Mommy?, after Zoloft. Just leave them there!"

Despite being in a not-so-ideal location, Is Zoloft addictive, their drawings are pretty darn cute (I am biased, of course) and always make me smile. So I decided to take their art a step further and create throw pillow covers from them, Zoloft images, hence, Zoloft brand name, this week's project:

A simple "envelope" style cover for a 16" pillow. This would make a cute Valentine's Day project for a grandparent, Zoloft Dosage.

Materials:

- blue-ish and red-ish thread for the "notebook paper" look
- white fabric (a 16.5" x 16.5" square, a 16.5" by 11.5" rectangle, Zoloft wiki, and a 16.5" by 8.5" rectangle)
- embroidery thread and needle in your choice of color(s). Zoloft street price, Optional. I did not use these.
- your child's drawing

Instructions:

  1. With the square (front) piece of fabric, Zoloft maximum dosage, use a pencil and draw a horizontal line across the width of the pillow, Where can i buy Zoloft online, 3/4" from the bottom edge.

  2. From this bottom line, draw 21 more lines across the width of the pillow so that they are 1/2" apart.

  3. Draw a line perpendicular to all the lines you just drew, 3.75" from the edge (this is your left margin rule), Zoloft australia, uk, us, usa.
  4. Zoloft Dosage, With your blue-ish thread, stitch across all 21 lines. I set my stitch length to 5 (the longest stitch); With your red-ish thread, Zoloft duration, stitch down the left margin line.

Ta da. You've now completed your very own notebook fabric.

There are many ways to "transfer" you child's drawing onto the pillow, Zoloft from canada. You can embroider it on, Zoloft coupon, draw it on, or machine-stitch it on, which is what I did (since I don't own any embroidery needles or thread), Zoloft photos. This part is up to you, Zoloft Dosage. But here is how I did mine:

  1. Position the original drawing under your notebook fabric and trace with a pencil.

  2. Set your machine stitching to reinforcement stitching (2 or 3 stitches at a time).

  3. Stitch along the traced image, Australia, uk, us, usa, lifting up the foot and pivoting to get around curves.

With the front completed, all that's left to do is putting together the pieces:

  1. Take the two rectangular pieces of fabric and, for each, serge/zig-zag down one of the long sides (16.25" side). Turn the serged side over 1/4" and stitch down, creating a hem.

  2. With right-sides facing one another, place the larger of the two rectangles on top of your front piece, lining the raw edges together. Pin in place.

  3. Place the smaller of the two rectangles on top of your front piece (and overlapping the other rectangle), lining the raw edges together. Pin in place.

  4. Straight-stitch down the perimeter of the square, 1/4" from the edge and serge/zig-zag all the way around.

  5. Now turn your cover right-side out, stuff your pillow inside and...

Yay. A cute little pillow featuring the world's best art ;).

Accidental Art

I am such a sucker for my kid's art. I don't know what I'm going to do once Calvin starts preschool this Thursday! He's bound to bring home loads and loads of projects that I'm going to want to keep. I guess that's why I have a digital blog, to digitally keep all those precious childhood creations!

Anyway, we were learning about color families the other day, and just when I was about to toss his seemingly random paintings, I discovered some "accidental art". I showed Calvin how just by adding wiggly eyes, his little color exploration turned into a bird and a fish:

On a side note, my new Etsy shop made it's first three sales this weekend! I spent some time tonight packaging my first product:

Inexpensive Solutions

While searching for new art for our home, I came across the works of Charley Harper. I fell in love with his simple style and natural subjects, and after researching the cost of purchasing his work, decided he was just too expensive for us ($300 is just a bit over my budget). I rummaged around on the internet some more and found a Charley Harper memory game on amazon.com for $14.94, and using an existing IKEA frame (measuring 27.5 by 39.25 inches), I put together my own Charley Harper masterpiece:

My precious "collection" of colored Sharpie markers sits right below it (this has nothing to do with the post, I just wanted an excuse to post a picture of my Sharpies...)

I also framed a few others to hang in our bedroom:

One of the "problems" we encountered after moving in was our front entrance which is flanked by two narrow windows. The windows are great in terms of providing natural light during the day, but not so great when you need to run downstairs in your boxers to grab something when it's dark outside. To provide some privacy and at the same time allow us to see who's ringing our doorbell, we opted for some vellum paper and double-sided tape for a grand total of $12:

We basically, trimmed the paper to fit between the "grids" in the window. We had tried contact paper before, but it is so darn hard to work with especially since the window casing isn't perfectly straight and even.

Lazy Sunday Afternoon

Let me just start off by saying that for the middle of summer, the weather in Rochester is fantastic! It's cool, breezy, and dry...

Sundays are very laid back for us: We get up, eat breakfast, play, go to Church, come home and eat lunch, take a long nice nap, and then get up to play some more until dinner time. I don't usually have a specific craft or activity planned for Sundays, but today, Charissa really wanted to paint outside, so we ended doing a simplified version of weed flower painting with just three paint colors:
