Backyard Camping

Last post for the night…

I am so very envious of my children right now. Speaking of not living vicariously through my children in my last post… I am most definitely living vicariously through them tonight. They, and Jeremy, are dreaming away in some nice L.L.Bean (I love them for outdoor gear!) sleeping bags in a very large tent in our backyard. I have never seen them so eager to go to bed before. I’ve never been camping… ever… in any way (unless you count sleeping in the family room), so when Jeremy suggested that he take the kids “backyard camping”, I was thrilled. (I’m not out there because my pregnant body would not like me very much if I did.)

After setting up the tent, we had the kids’ favorite meal of home-made dumplings before heading out to the wild. They even had a “practice run” with their sleeping bags indoors (and insisted on looking for bats in their pretend “cave”). It’s interesting too… We had ordered the red one for Charissa and the dark green one for Calvin, but they ended up switching because they both liked the other color better…

Here are some shots of them in their PJ’s before heading out:

I plan on making them banana-chocolate-chip pancakes and eggs for breakfast tomorrow to complete the “camping experience”.

Like I said, sooo jealous. (At least I’ll get to sleep in tomorrow morning…)

It’s so interesting to know that they switched the sleeping bags.
